\
Q: My machine hangs during boot. NetInfo seems ok (or maybe not; unsure). After lots of sleuthing, I found that it's hanging in the\
\
\f0\fs24 mount -vat nfs\
\f2\fs28 \
command. (I did this by booting single-user, running /etc/rc by hand, and, to get more information, by typing in the appropriate commands from rc line-by-line — until the
\f0\fs24 mount
\f2\fs28 hung.) What's wrong?\
\
A: Check all your NetInfo domains, and be sure there's a /mounts directory in each one. If, for example, you have a two-level hierarchy, and there's a /mounts directory in the root domain, but none in the local domain, that is likely to be your problem.\
\
Solution:\
\
\f0\fs24 # niutil -create . /mounts\
\f2\fs28 \
(this is assuming the local domain is the one missing the /mounts directory). Alternatively, if you can get the system up to where you can run NetInfoManager, create a new directory using Domain
\f3 fi
\f2 New Subdirectory, and rename the directory to be called “mounts”; you should be all set.\
